PRAYING SCRIPTURES & COUNSELING DEVOTIONAL
Month of Bountiful Harvest
THEME: YOUR HARVEST NEEDS HUMILITY
📖 SCRIPTURE FOCUS:
DEUTERONOMY 8:18 (KJV)
“But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.”
🪞 REFLECTION:
YOUR HARVEST NEEDS HUMILITY
Success can create a dangerous illusion in the human heart: “I did this entirely by myself.”
When the harvest comes, the temptation is to celebrate the fruit while forgetting the Source, to admire our achievements while overlooking the people God used to help us, and to take all the glory for accomplishments that were made possible by divine grace.
Beloved, never forget that behind your progress are God’s mercy, the strength He supplied, the opportunities He provided, the wisdom He granted, and the people He positioned along your path.
Your hard work matters. Your discipline matters. Your sacrifices matter. But you must never become so impressed with your achievements that you forget the God who gave you the ability to achieve them.
Humility does not mean denying your accomplishments; it means acknowledging the grace, help, and opportunities that made them possible.
The higher God lifts you, the more carefully you must guard your heart against pride. Your harvest should not make you arrogant; it should make you grateful. Your prosperity should not make you look down on others; it should give you more opportunities to lift them.
Remember Pharaoh’s warning through the history of Israel: prosperity can cause people to forget God. That is why Deuteronomy 8 reminds us to remember the Lord even when we have entered our season of abundance.
Never allow your harvest to destroy the character that carried you through your planting season.
When God blesses you, remain teachable. When people honour you, remain approachable. When your influence increases, remain accountable. And when your harvest becomes visible, let your gratitude become even more visible.
Your harvest is not an invitation to boast; it is an opportunity to demonstrate God’s goodness.
THANK GOD AS YOU ARE LED:
I DECREE and DECLARE:
🙏 OPENING PRAYER:
My Dear Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I come before You today with a grateful heart.
Thank You for the gift of life, the privilege of another day, and the blessings You have brought into my life. Thank You for every seed I have sown, every battle You have helped me overcome, every opportunity You have provided, and every harvest You have graciously allowed me to receive.
Father, please search my heart and remove every seed of pride, arrogance, self-exaltation, and ingratitude. Do not allow my achievements to make me forget You. Do not allow my blessings to become a source of spiritual pride.
Holy Spirit, teach me to remain humble in seasons of abundance, faithful in seasons of increase, and grateful in every circumstance.
Help me recognize the people You have used to contribute to my journey. Give me the courage to appreciate them, the wisdom to honour them, and the generosity to become a blessing to others.
As I enter into greater levels of fruitfulness, let my character grow alongside my blessings. May my life continually bring glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
🔥 STRONG PERSONAL LIFE-APPLICATION PRAYERS
1. PRAYER AGAINST PRIDE AND SELF-GLORY
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, I repent of every attitude that makes me take personal glory for what Your grace has accomplished in my life. Forgive me for every moment I have forgotten Your goodness or looked down on others because of my achievements.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, uproot every seed of pride, arrogance, and self-sufficiency from my heart. Let me never become so successful that I consider myself superior to those who are still struggling.
Father, as my harvest increases, let my humility increase. As my influence expands, let my dependence on You deepen. May I never lose the fear of the Lord because of the blessings of the Lord.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
2. PRAYER FOR A GRATEFUL HEART
Father, give me a heart that remembers Your goodness in every season of life.
When I receive financial blessings, remind me of Your faithfulness. When doors open for me, remind me of Your mercy. When people celebrate my achievements, remind me that every good and perfect gift comes from You.
Deliver me from the sin of taking blessings for granted. Let my mouth continually declare Your goodness, and let my life demonstrate genuine thanksgiving.
Even when my harvest is greater than I imagined, may my gratitude never become smaller than my blessings.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
3. PRAYER FOR THE GRACE TO HONOUR PEOPLE
O Lord, open my eyes to recognize the people You have used to support, encourage, teach, correct, and strengthen me.
Forgive me for every time I have forgotten the sacrifices of others after achieving my goals. Deliver me from ingratitude, selfishness, and the habit of remembering people only when I need their help.
Give me the humility to say thank you, the courage to acknowledge those who contributed to my progress, and the generosity to reward kindness wherever I am able.
Father, help me honour people sincerely without flattering them or making them objects of worship. Let my appreciation be genuine, my gratitude be practical, and my relationships be strengthened by mutual respect.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
4. PRAYER FOR HUMILITY IN ABUNDANCE
Father, as You enlarge my coast and increase my harvest, preserve my heart from pride.
Do not allow money to change my values, influence to destroy my character, recognition to inflate my ego, or success to separate me from the people who stood with me during difficult seasons.
Give me the wisdom to manage blessings responsibly, the discipline to remain faithful, and the humility to receive correction.
May I never use my position to intimidate others or my achievements to make people feel inferior. Let my prosperity become a testimony of Your goodness and my conduct become an example of Christlike humility.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
5. PRAYER FOR THE GRACE TO REMAIN TEACHABLE
Father, give me a humble and teachable spirit.
Deliver me from the belief that I know everything because I have achieved something. Help me listen when I need to learn, accept correction when I am wrong, and seek godly counsel when I need direction.
Surround me with sincere people who will tell me the truth in love. Give me the wisdom to distinguish constructive correction from destructive criticism.
May my past achievements never prevent me from learning new things. Let me grow in wisdom, knowledge, character, and spiritual maturity throughout my lifetime.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
6. PRAYER FOR A HARVEST THAT BECOMES A BLESSING
Father, let my bountiful harvest become a channel of blessing to others.
Deliver me from selfishness and the temptation to consume everything You place in my hands on myself alone. Teach me to support worthy causes, encourage the discouraged, help people in genuine need, and use my resources responsibly.
Give me wisdom to distinguish genuine needs from manipulation and generosity from unhealthy financial obligations. Help me establish healthy boundaries while remaining compassionate.
May my home, ministry, career, business, and relationships become instruments through which others experience Your goodness.
Let my harvest produce thanksgiving in many hearts and bring glory to Your name.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!
🕊️ COUNSELING INSIGHT: NEVER LET YOUR HARVEST MAKE YOU FORGET YOUR ROOTS
One of the greatest tests of character is not how a person behaves when nothing is going well, but how that person behaves when everything begins to work.
Some people are humble when they have nothing but become proud when they acquire wealth, recognition, education, or influence. Others remember those who helped them during their struggles but become distant from those same people after achieving success.
This is a dangerous emotional and relational pattern because pride can damage relationships, weaken accountability, and create unnecessary isolation.
Consider these five counseling principles:
- Separate confidence from arrogance.
You can celebrate your achievements without considering yourself better than others. Healthy confidence recognizes your abilities, while humility recognizes your limitations and your need for continued growth.
- Practise intentional gratitude.
Do not wait for a special occasion to appreciate people. Send a message, make a call, express your thanks, or offer appropriate assistance to someone who contributed positively to your journey.
- Remember your difficult seasons.
Your history should not be a source of shame. It should remind you to remain compassionate toward people who are still struggling. Never mock the struggles you once experienced.
- Receive correction without hostility.
As your responsibilities increase, you need trustworthy people who can speak honestly with you. A person who surrounds himself or herself only with admirers may gradually lose the ability to recognize personal weaknesses.
- Let your blessings improve your character.
Financial prosperity, professional advancement, ministry growth, and social recognition should make you more responsible, not more controlling. True greatness is demonstrated not only by what you achieve but also by how you treat people.
Remember this important truth:
Humility is not thinking that you have achieved nothing. It is recognizing that your achievements do not make you superior to other people.
You can be successful and still be approachable. You can be wealthy and still be generous. You can be influential and still be accountable. You can be honoured by people and still remain surrendered to God.
Never confuse humility with allowing people to exploit you. You can maintain healthy boundaries, refuse manipulation, and protect your peace without becoming arrogant or ungrateful.
Your harvest should strengthen your character, not weaken it.
🌱 LIFE APPLICATION:
PRACTISE HUMILITY TODAY
Put today’s Word into action through these five practical steps:
- Thank God intentionally. Spend time acknowledging specific blessings He has brought into your life instead of focusing only on what you are still waiting to receive.
- Appreciate one person. Contact someone who contributed to your growth, encouraged you, taught you, prayed for you, or supported you during a difficult season. Express your gratitude sincerely.
- Acknowledge your helpers. If someone deserves recognition for a contribution to your success, give that recognition honestly and appropriately.
- Perform one act of generosity. Use your time, knowledge, resources, or influence to help someone without seeking applause or public recognition.
- Examine your heart. Ask yourself: Has my progress made me more grateful, more compassionate, more teachable, and more responsible?
Do not merely pray for a greater harvest. Allow God to develop the character required to manage it well.
