PRAYING SCRIPTURES & COUNSELING DEVOTIONAL

Month of Bountiful Harvest

Theme: HARVEST THROUGH OBEDIENCE

πŸ“– SCRIPTURE FOCUS:
DEUTERONOMY 28:1–2 (KJV)

β€œAnd it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.”

πŸͺž REFLECTION:

YOUR OBEDIENCE PREPARES YOU FOR YOUR HARVEST

Beloved, one of the greatest keys to experiencing God’s blessings is obedience to His Word and His instructions.

Obedience often requires doing what is right before you see the result. Sometimes, God may instruct you to forgive someone who hurt you, apologize when you are wrong, give sacrificially, wait patiently, serve faithfully, learn a new skill, start something meaningful, stop a destructive habit, or make a difficult but necessary correction.

The challenge is that we sometimes want God’s blessings without fully embracing His instructions. We want the harvest, but we resist the process. We desire a breakthrough, but we negotiate with the very instructions that could lead us toward it.

Delayed obedience can become delayed progress.

Abraham obeyed God and stepped out by faith (Genesis 12:1–4). Noah obeyed God’s instructions and prepared the ark before the rain came (Genesis 6:22). The servants at the wedding in Cana followed Jesus’ instructions, and they witnessed a miracle (John 2:5–9).

These examples remind us that obedience is an expression of trust in God.

However, obedience is not a formula for forcing God to fulfil every personal desire. It is a response of faith, love, and submission to His will. Sometimes, obedience produces immediate results; at other times, it develops our character, strengthens our faith, and prepares us for responsibilities ahead.

As we journey through this Month of Bountiful Harvest, ask yourself: Is there something God has already shown me that I need to do, but I keep postponing?

Perhaps it is a conversation you need to have, a wrong you need to correct, a responsibility you need to embrace, or a habit you need to abandon.

Do not keep asking God for new directions while deliberately ignoring the clear instructions you have already received from His Word.

Your next step of obedience may be the beginning of a new season of growth, peace, restoration, and fruitfulness.

THANK GOD AS YOU ARE LED:

I DECREE and DECLARE:

πŸ™ OPENING PRAYER:

My Dear Heavenly Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, I thank You for the gift of life and for bringing me into this Month of Bountiful Harvest.

Lord, give me a heart that delights in Your Word and a spirit that is willing to obey Your instructions. Deliver me from pride, stubbornness, procrastination, and every attitude that makes me resist Your will.

Holy Spirit, help me to recognise the areas of my life where I have been delaying necessary action. Give me the courage to make corrections, the humility to admit my mistakes, and the faith to take the right steps even when I cannot see the outcome.

Father, let my life reflect genuine obedience, sincere love, and unwavering faith in You. Order my steps according to Your Word, and lead me away from decisions that could destroy the good things You are building in my life.

As I obey You, help me to grow in wisdom, character, discipline, and spiritual maturity. Prepare my heart to receive and faithfully manage the blessings You entrust to me.

In this Month of Bountiful Harvest, let my obedience produce fruits that glorify Your name and become a blessing to my family, ministry, community, and generation.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen!

πŸ”₯ LIFE APPLICATION:

PERSONAL PRAYERS FOR HARVEST THROUGH OBEDIENCE

1. Prayer for a Willing and Obedient Heart

Father, in the name of Jesus, remove every spirit of stubbornness, rebellion, and disobedience from my life. Give me a heart that responds promptly to Your Word. Help me to obey You even when Your instructions challenge my comfort, preferences, or personal ambitions. Let my life become fertile ground for Your purposes, and let my obedience produce lasting fruits in this Month of Bountiful Harvest, in Jesus’ name!

2. Prayer for the Grace to Take Action

Father, I repent of every good instruction I have neglected and every necessary action I have postponed through fear, laziness, or indecision. By the power of the Holy Spirit, empower me to take the right steps without unnecessary delay. Give me courage to begin what I have been postponing, strength to complete what I have started, and wisdom to correct what I have done wrongly. I refuse to remain stagnant where You are calling me to grow. Let my obedience move me forward into the opportunities You have prepared for me, in Jesus’ name!

3. Prayer for Wisdom to Recognise God’s Instructions

O Lord, deliver me from confusion, self-deception, and decisions driven by pressure or selfish ambition. Teach me to distinguish Your written Word from my personal desires, fears, and assumptions. Give me wisdom through the Holy Spirit, sound biblical counsel, and a renewed mind to make decisions that honour You. Where I need to forgive, give me grace; where I need to apologise, give me humility; where I need to wait, give me patience; and where I need to act, give me courage. May I never mistake my own wishes for Your instructions, in Jesus’ name!

4. Prayer for Obedience in My Work, Finances, and Responsibilities

Father, help me to honour You in my work, business, ministry, relationships, and financial decisions. Deliver me from dishonesty, wastefulness, laziness, and every practice that contradicts Your Word. Teach me to work diligently, give cheerfully, manage resources faithfully, honour legitimate commitments, and treat people with integrity. Open my eyes to the practical responsibilities I must fulfil to improve my life and serve others better. As I walk in biblical principles, bless the work of my hands and establish the labour of my hands for Your glory, in Jesus’ name!

5. Prayer for the Courage to Make Difficult Corrections

Father, in the name of Jesus, give me the courage to confront every wrong attitude, destructive habit, unhealthy pattern, and unwise decision that is hindering my progress. Deliver me from the fear of people’s opinions and the pride that prevents me from admitting when I am wrong. Help me to set healthy boundaries, pursue peace without compromising truth, and make responsible decisions even when they are difficult. Where I have caused pain, teach me to make amends; where I have been wounded, help me to heal wisely. Let every necessary correction become an instrument of growth and restoration in my life, in Jesus’ name!

6. Prayer for a Bountiful Harvest Through Faithful Obedience

My Father and my God, I commit my life, family, ministry, work, and future into Your hands. As I walk in obedience to Your Word, strengthen me to remain faithful in seasons of waiting and steadfast in seasons of testing. Let the seeds of righteousness, diligence, generosity, patience, and faithful service bear good fruit in my life. Give me grace not only to receive blessings but also to preserve them, manage them wisely, and use them to bless others. In this Month of Bountiful Harvest, let my life testify to Your faithfulness, and may the fruits of my obedience bring honour to Your holy name, in Jesus’ mighty name!

πŸ•ŠοΈ COUNSELING INSIGHT:

OBEDIENCE BEGINS WITH ONE RIGHT STEP

One common challenge in personal growth is knowing what needs to change but struggling to take action.

Sometimes, the problem is fear. At other times, it is pride, emotional pain, uncertainty, procrastination, or the comfort of familiar habits.

A person may pray for a better marriage while refusing to communicate honestly. Another may pray for financial stability while refusing to practise budgeting and responsible spending. Someone may desire spiritual growth but continually neglect prayer, Scripture study, and fellowship.

Prayer is powerful, but prayer should also prepare us to take responsible action.

James 1:22 (KJV) says:

β€œBut be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

Consider these five counseling principles:

  1. Identify the instruction you have neglected.
Ask yourself honestly: What do I already know I need to do? Avoid using new prayers to escape an old responsibility.
  2. Separate God’s Word from personal assumptions.
Not every strong feeling, dream, desire, or suggestion is a divine instruction. Test spiritual impressions against Scripture, godly wisdom, sound reasoning, and the fruit they produce.
  3. Break difficult assignments into manageable steps.
If you need to reconcile with someone, you might begin by examining your own contribution to the conflict. If you need financial discipline, begin by recording your expenses. Small, responsible actions can establish lasting patterns.
  4. Understand that obedience does not mean tolerating abuse.
Forgiveness does not require you to remain in danger, and submission to God does not mean surrendering your safety or dignity to another person’s harmful behaviour. Seek appropriate pastoral, professional, or legal assistance when necessary.
  5. Measure progress by faithfulness, not only immediate results.
You may obey God and still experience delays, opposition, or disappointment. Do not automatically conclude that you have failed spiritually because the outcome has not appeared. Continue to act with faith, wisdom, integrity, and patience.

A PERSONAL COUNSELING EXERCISE

Take a few quiet minutes today and answer these questions honestly:

What important responsibility have I been postponing?

What fear, excuse, or attitude is preventing me from acting?

What is one practical step I can take today?

Who can provide wise, trustworthy counsel if I need help?

How will I remain faithful even if the result takes time?

Write down your answers and take the first appropriate step.

Remember: You do not have to solve everything today, but you can begin doing the right thing today.

🌱 DAILY LIFE APPLICATION

Today, identify one clear, responsible action you have been postponing and take the first step toward completing it.

It could be apologising, forgiving, making a necessary phone call, correcting an error, starting a neglected assignment, organising your finances, seeking counseling, or establishing a healthier routine.

Do not wait until you feel completely ready. Begin with prayer, wisdom, and a willing heart.

Let your obedience be practical, consistent, and rooted in God’s Word.

πŸ™Œ CLOSING PRAYER:

Faithful Father, I thank You for speaking to my heart through Your Word today.

I receive grace to become a doer of Your Word and not a hearer only. By the power of the Holy Spirit, help me to overcome every attitude that has hindered my obedience.

I receive fresh strength to make necessary corrections, fulfil my responsibilities, honour my commitments, and pursue the things that align with Your will.

Every good seed I have sown through faithfulness, diligence, righteousness, generosity, and service, let it bear fruit according to Your purpose and timing.

Father, deliver me from the temptation to compare my journey with that of others. Teach me to remain faithful in my own assignment and patient while You work in my life.

Give me wisdom to recognise opportunities, discipline to manage my resources, humility to receive correction, and discernment to avoid decisions that could destroy my peace or compromise my values.

I pray for my family, my ministry, my work, and everyone connected to my life. Let us grow in love, integrity, wisdom, and faithfulness. May the fruits of our labour become blessings to others, and may our lives bring glory to Your name.

In this Month of Bountiful Harvest, may I not merely desire a harvest but also cultivate the character, discipline, and faithfulness required to steward the blessings You entrust to me.

I declare that, by Your grace, I will walk in obedience, grow in wisdom, and remain steadfast in faith. My life will bear good fruit, and my testimony will point people to Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Father, because You are faithful in every season.

In the mighty and victorious name of Jesus Christ, Amen!
