Theme: THE LITTLE FOX OF NEGLECTING GODLY COUNSEL

*📖 Scripture Focus:* Proverbs 11:14 (KJV)

«“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”»

*🪞 Reflection:*

One of the little foxes that can quietly damage a person’s life and destiny is neglecting godly counsel. It may not look dangerous at first. Sometimes it even disguises itself as confidence, independence, experience, or the desire to make one’s own decisions. But there is a difference between being confident and being unteachable.

God did not design us to navigate every season of life alone. There are moments when we need the wisdom of people who have walked before us, understand the principles of God’s Word, and genuinely desire our wellbeing. A wise person does not surrender personal responsibility by seeking counsel; rather, wise counsel helps a person make better-informed and more prayerful decisions.

The danger begins when we repeatedly reject correction, dismiss warnings, ignore mature advice, or surround ourselves only with people who tell us what we want to hear. Pride can make a person mistake counsel for criticism. Offence can make correction feel like rejection. Previous disappointments can make someone conclude that nobody can be trusted. Yet, rejecting all counsel because some people have failed us can expose us to unnecessary mistakes.

God can use parents, pastors, mentors, counselors, godly friends, teachers, spouses, and other mature believers to bring perspective into our lives. Their counsel does not replace the Holy Spirit or the authority of Scripture; rather, godly counsel should agree with God’s Word and help us see what we may not be seeing clearly.

A teachable heart is not a weak heart. It is a protected heart.

Sometimes the counsel we resist today is the warning that could save us from tomorrow’s pain. A wise person learns from instruction before consequences become the teacher.

Therefore, ask yourself: Who has permission to correct me? Who can tell me the truth even when it is uncomfortable? Do I seek counsel only after making a decision, or am I humble enough to seek wisdom before making it?

Do not allow the little fox of self-sufficiency, pride, offence, or stubbornness to destroy what God is building in your life. Learn to pray, listen, examine counsel against Scripture, and act with wisdom.

*I DECREE and DECLARE:*

*🙏 OPENING PRAYER:*
My Dear Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus, I come before You with a humble and teachable heart. Search me and reveal every attitude in me that resists correction, instruction, wisdom, or godly counsel.

Lord, deliver me from pride, stubbornness, self-sufficiency, impulsiveness, and the deception of thinking that I know everything. Give me grace to recognize the people You have positioned to speak wisdom into my life.

Holy Spirit, help me distinguish between godly counsel and ungodly influence. Give me discernment to know whom to listen to, humility to receive correction, and courage to act upon righteous counsel.

Father, protect me from making avoidable mistakes because of neglected wisdom. Let Your Word remain my ultimate standard, and surround me with people who will help me walk faithfully in Your purpose.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

*🙏PRAYING SCRIPTURES 1 — PRAYER FOR A TEACHABLE HEART*

Proverbs 11:14 (KJV):

«“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.”»

Father, thank You because Your Word provides wisdom for every area of my life. Today, I reject the little fox of neglecting godly counsel.

Lord, give me a heart that can listen. Deliver me from the attitude that says, “I know what I am doing,” when I actually need instruction. Remove every form of pride that makes me reject correction simply because it does not agree with what I want.

Father, make me teachable without making me gullible. Give me discernment to recognize counsel that is consistent with Your Word and wisdom to reject counsel that would lead me away from Your will.

Bring into my life mature, trustworthy, spiritually discerning, and genuinely loving people who will not flatter me into destruction but will lovingly tell me the truth.

When I am about to make a wrong decision, send the right voice. When I am becoming emotionally blinded, give me someone who can help me see clearly. When I am rushing, give me someone who can help me pause. When pride is speaking loudly within me, give me humility to listen.

Father, let me never become so successful that I stop receiving instruction. Let me never become so experienced that I stop learning. Let me never become so influential that I become unaccountable.

I receive the grace to listen before I act, pray before I decide, examine before I accept, and obey when Your truth becomes clear.

Every decision I make shall be guided by Your Word, influenced by godly wisdom, and submitted to the direction of the Holy Spirit.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*PRAYING SCRIPTURES 2 — PRAYER FOR DIVINE WISDOM AND RIGHT COUNSEL*

Proverbs 15:22 (KJV):

«“Without counsel purposes are disappointed: but in the multitude of counsellors they are established.”»

Father, I commit my plans, relationships, ministry, family, finances, career, business, and future into Your hands.

I ask that You deliver me from decisions made through pride, pressure, fear, anger, excitement, desperation, or emotional confusion.

Lord, where I have neglected good advice in the past, have mercy upon me. Where my stubbornness has caused unnecessary pain, forgive me and give me grace to make the necessary corrections.

Father, establish my purposes through wisdom. Before I enter relationships, partnerships, commitments, investments, agreements, or major decisions, teach me to seek You and obtain appropriate godly counsel.

Give me counselors who have integrity, spiritual maturity, wisdom, confidentiality, experience, and genuine love for truth. Remove from my life voices that encourage rebellion, compromise, deception, bitterness, or destruction.

Give me the humility to hear counsel even when it challenges my preference. Give me the wisdom to test every counsel against Scripture. Give me the courage to change direction when I discover that I am heading the wrong way.

Lord, I declare that I will not be destroyed by avoidable ignorance. I will not allow pride to make me reject the wisdom that could preserve my destiny.

Let every good purpose You have ordained for my life receive the wisdom, accountability, correction, and support necessary for fulfillment.

May my life become an example of someone who listens, learns, grows, and walks wisely.

In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

*🧠COUNSELING INSIGHT:*

Independence is healthy; isolation is dangerous.

There is nothing wrong with making personal decisions or taking responsibility for your life. The danger comes when independence becomes an excuse to reject every voice that challenges you.

You do not need everybody’s opinion, but you should have godly people who can speak honestly into your life.

*A practical test is this:*

– Who can correct you without losing access to you?
– Who can tell you uncomfortable truth without you becoming offended?
– Who do you consult before major decisions?
– Do you only seek advice that confirms what you already want to do?
– Can you distinguish biblical counsel from mere human opinion?

Remember, godly counsel is not the same as popular opinion. The number of people agreeing with you does not automatically make a decision right. Counsel must be tested against God’s Word, prayer, wisdom, character, facts, and the circumstances involved.

Also remember that receiving counsel does not mean surrendering your responsibility. You remain accountable for your decisions before God.

If you have been hurt by people who gave you bad advice, do not allow that experience to make you reject all counsel. Heal, develop discernment, establish healthy boundaries, and learn to recognize trustworthy voices.

Sometimes God protects a destiny through a conversation.

Do not despise the voice of wisdom simply because it is inconvenient.

*PERSONAL PRAYER*

Father, give me humility to receive godly counsel. Connect me with wise, trustworthy, spiritually mature people who will help me fulfill my purpose. Give me discernment to recognize the right voices and courage to obey righteous counsel. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

*🙏CLOSING PRAYER:*
Father, thank You for speaking to me through Your Word. I receive grace to become more teachable, more discerning, and more willing to receive godly instruction.

I destroy every little fox of pride, stubbornness, self-sufficiency, impulsiveness, and resistance to correction operating in my life.

Lord, preserve me from decisions that could damage my destiny. Send wise voices into my path, and give me the humility to listen when they speak according to Your truth.

Let my family, ministry, career, relationships, finances, and future benefit from the wisdom You make available to me.

I declare that I will not walk alone when God has provided wise counsel. I will seek God, listen carefully, examine wisely, and walk in obedience.

May the Holy Spirit guide me into all truth. May God’s Word order my steps. May divine wisdom preserve my life and establish the purposes of God concerning me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

I cover all my prayers and my declarations and my decrees and my commands and my petitions and my supplications and my confessions and my thanksgiving by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ for absolute performance.
