Title: GIVE ME A HEART FOR THE LOST

Jesus declared His mission in Luke 19:10, saying, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” His life on earth was dedicated to rescuing sinners, extending grace to the broken, and calling all people to repentance. As His followers, we are commissioned to continue this mission, sharing His love and truth with those who have yet to experience salvation. However, to effectively fulfill this calling, we must first develop a deep burden for the lost—a heart that mirrors Christ’s compassion.

A heart for the lost begins with divine compassion. Jesus was moved with compassion whenever He saw people wandering like sheep without a shepherd (Matthew 9:36). Likewise, we must ask God to help us see others through His eyes. It is easy to become indifferent or judgmental, but true Christ-like love compels us to care deeply about the eternal destiny of others. This compassion fuels our prayers and motivates us to reach out.

In addition to compassion, we need boldness in evangelism. Fear, doubt, and the fear of rejection often hinder believers from sharing the gospel. Yet, the early church thrived because they prayed for and received boldness from the Holy Spirit (Acts 4:29-31). We, too, must ask God for courage to proclaim His truth without hesitation. Whether through personal conversations, social platforms, or outreach efforts, our voices must echo the message of salvation.

Finally, developing a heart for the lost requires a deep burden for souls. The Apostle Paul expressed his intense longing for his fellow Israelites to be saved (Romans 10:1). This kind of passion drives persistent prayer, selfless service, and a lifestyle that reflects Christ’s love. We must intentionally pray for family members, friends, and even strangers, trusting that God will draw them to Himself.

When we pray, “Lord, give me a heart for the lost,” we are asking for a transformation that aligns our desires with God’s. We become vessels through which His love flows, His Word is spoken, and His saving grace is revealed. By embracing His mission with urgency and devotion, we fulfill the Great Commission and bring joy to the heart of our Father (Luke 15:7).
