Title: GOD THE CONSUMING FIRE
Beloved, we serve a God who reveals Himself in fire. From the burning bush that caught Moses’ attention, to Mount Sinai where the Lord descended in fire, to the day of Pentecost when tongues of fire sat upon the disciples—our God consistently shows Himself as the Consuming Fire.
Deuteronomy 4:24 says, “For the LORD thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.” This is not just a poetic description; it is a divine reality. Fire is the nature of God—it purifies, it illuminates, it empowers, and it destroys. Anything that cannot stand His holiness will be reduced to ashes in His presence.
1. The Fire that Delivers
The God we serve is not silent when His children are oppressed. His fire goes forth as a weapon of deliverance. Just as He rained fire on Sodom to consume wickedness, so will His fire consume every satanic power holding your destiny captive. Child of God, no force of darkness can withstand the fire of God. When the Consuming Fire arises for your sake, chains are broken, altars are destroyed, and prison doors are flung open.
2. The Fire that Purifies
Fire does not only destroy—it refines. Gold must pass through fire before it shines in its beauty. In the same way, God allows His holy fire to purge us from sin, compromise, and every weight that holds us back. When you invite God’s fire into your heart, it burns away every impurity and makes you a vessel of honor. Deliverance is incomplete without purification, for God is raising a people holy and ready for His glory.
3. The Fire that Ignites
When fire touches something, it never remains the same. The disciples were ordinary men until the fire of Pentecost rested upon them—then they became bold witnesses who turned the world upside down. God wants to ignite your prayer life, your worship, your faith, and your service. He wants to set you ablaze so that your light will shine in darkness and draw many to Christ.
Beloved, this is why we cannot afford to treat God’s fire casually. We must welcome it, embrace it, and walk in it. In this month of Deliverance by Fire, let your prayer be: “Lord, consume everything in me that is not of You. Burn away every bondage, every weakness, every evil trace. Purify me, ignite me, and let my life burn as a testimony of Your glory.”
