LET MY HEART BE FIXED ON HEAVENLY THINGS

As believers, we are called to live with a heavenly perspective. In a world that constantly vies for our attention, the message in Colossians 3:2—“Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things”—reminds us of our true focus. We are not of this world; we are citizens of heaven, and our thoughts and actions should reflect that eternal reality.

A heavenly mindset leads us to spiritual growth, clarity, and purpose. When we fix our hearts and minds on things above, we shift our focus from fleeting earthly desires to lasting divine truths. In doing so, we experience God’s guidance in our lives, seeing situations through His lens rather than the world’s distractions.

The importance of this mindset cannot be overstated. Earthly things are temporary and often deceptive, leading us into anxiety, comparison, and striving. But when our hearts are set on heaven, we align ourselves with God’s purposes and find peace in His will. This kingdom-focused approach brings clarity to our decisions and strengthens our faith, enabling us to remain steadfast despite life’s challenges.

In practical terms, fixing our hearts on heavenly things means prioritizing eternal values over temporal gains. It means seeking God’s will first in every situation and trusting Him to guide us. It also calls for intentional quiet moments to realign our hearts with God’s truth, especially when distractions or difficulties threaten to draw us away.

As we embark on this month of going higher with Jesus Christ, let us commit to keeping our hearts fixed on heavenly things. Let us be mindful of the truth that our eternal home is in heaven, and as we live with this perspective, we will experience true peace, purpose, and elevation in Christ.
