WHY HE CAME AND HOW TO EMULATE HIS LIFESTYLE

Text: John 3:16 – “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

Introduction
Merry Christmas, beloved! Today, we celebrate the greatest gift humanity has ever received: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who came to save us and transform our lives. Christmas is not just a day of celebration but a time to reflect on why He came and how we can live like Him.

1. Why He Came

Jesus came for three key reasons:

A. To Save the World (John 3:16)

His mission was salvation. Humanity was trapped in sin, unable to save itself. Jesus came as the ultimate sacrifice to redeem us, restoring our relationship with God and granting us eternal life. His birth was the beginning of God’s redemption plan for all.

B. To Reveal God’s Love (1 John 4:9)

Jesus’ life demonstrated the depth of God’s love. Every action, miracle, and teaching showed that God is not distant but deeply involved in our lives. He is Emmanuel—”God with us.”

C. To Set an Example of Righteous Living (1 Peter 2:21)

Jesus lived a life of humility, compassion, and obedience to the Father. His life serves as a blueprint for how we should live in alignment with God’s will, showing love, mercy, and justice to others.

2. Emulating His Lifestyle

The celebration of Christmas is not complete if we do not commit to living like Christ. To emulate His lifestyle, we must focus on:

A. Humility (Philippians 2:5-7)

Jesus, though God, humbled Himself to be born in a manger. He lived as a servant, putting others before Himself. This Christmas, let us humble ourselves, serving others with love and selflessness.

B. Love and Compassion (Matthew 22:37-39)

Jesus commanded us to love God and our neighbors. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, and comforted the brokenhearted. Let us reflect His love by being a blessing to those around us—feeding the needy, forgiving offenses, and sharing His hope.

C. Obedience to God (John 6:38)

Jesus’ entire life was marked by obedience to the Father’s will. He sought God’s direction in everything. Let us follow His example by surrendering our plans and desires to God and living according to His Word.

3. The True Spirit of Christmas

The true spirit of Christmas lies in reflecting Christ’s character. As we exchange gifts, let us remember the greatest gift—Jesus—and share Him with others. As we gather with loved ones, let us extend Christ’s love to the lonely, the hurting, and the lost.

Conclusion

Beloved, Christmas is a reminder of why Jesus came—to save, love, and guide us—and an invitation to live like Him. As we celebrate His birth, let us also commit to making Him the center of our lives. May we embody His humility, love, and obedience, becoming His hands and feet in a world in need of hope.

Call to Action:
This Christmas, let us rededicate ourselves to Christ. Reflect on His love, embrace His salvation, and choose to walk in His steps daily.

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Jesus. Help us to remember why He came and give us the grace to live like Him. May our lives reflect His love, humility, and obedience, bringing glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Merry Christmas!
